Browns: clinched playoff spot with win over Jets

The Cleveland Browns are headed to the 2023 NFL playoffs.

Thursday night: After a 37-20 win over the Jets: The Browns officially clinched the playoffs for the first time since the 2020 season.

The Browns have battled adversity this season, with key players across the board suffering multiple season-ending injuries since Week 1. The Browns have relied on a "next man up" mentality throughout this season. Have done. From being one of eight teams since 1961 to win all three quarterback games on all three sides of the ball as a starter in a single season, their star running back and key player in their secondary. Through it all, they stand at 11-5 with one game remaining in the regular season.

The Browns took an aggressive approach against the Jets during the first half. The Browns struggled to find success in the second half, and were held scoreless in the third quarter. The Browns gave up key turnovers in the fourth.

Putting points on the board on K Riley Patterson's 33-yard field goal attempt in the fourth quarter officially put the game away. This was the first time the Browns scored in the second half.

The defense stepped up in a big way (in the second half). After Strong's fumble, the Browns managed to hold the Jets to just one field goal on their next offensive possession. This happened during the fourth quarter. Pierre also got a key defensive stop on the Jets' next offensive possession.
